Shield Gules a stag rampant Argent armed Or, his breast superimposed by an inescutcheon lozengy of Argent and Azure.
Meaning:
The existence of proper seals is proven since 1476. As the pattern displayed the shield of the Bavarian dukes from the Wittelsbach kin since the very beginning, the seal must have been adopted after 1373. Before Hirschau belonged to the ßnew Bohemian territoriesß between 1353 and 1373, in 1367 it was first mentioned as a city. The stag (German: Hirsch) is a canting element. The Au, a kind of meadow, was symbolised in between by little trees and by a young forest plantation of firs, which were removed in the 20th century.

The banner has never been approved officially. The arms are in use since the 14th century.
