Current Flag

Description of current flag:
The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a 7-stripes flag with horizontal alternating yellow and red stripes. It has a yellow rectangular flaghead. In its centre is a black ring with four black squares.
Meaning:
According to Veddeler 2003, p.195 the symbol in the flaghead/bannerhead is interpreted twice.
1) The ring is symbolizing a stronghold of former local German tribes on Mt. Istenberg, the squares the four stones of Bruchhausen, an eyecatcher of the local landscape.
2) It is symbolizing the strong connections of the four valleys of Ruhr, Elpe, Neger and Medebach. The ring is also symbolizing Olsberg, beginning with "O".
