Merching Coat of Arms

Renaissance shield parted per fess, above Or an eagle Azure, beneath Sable a cross trefly Or.
Meaning:
The upper half displays a differentiation of the arms of the Counts of Andechs in counterchanged tinctures. The local castle had been the centre of the counts in the Lechrain area since 1078. In the 12th century the counts donated larger estates to the Dießen Monastery and the Imperial Abbey of St. Ulricus and St. Afra in Augsburg. The cross trefly is taken from the arms of the abbey.
