The symbols were adopted to support local pride. They were adopted on 27 June 1996 officially through Local Agreement No. 002. Originally, the approval of the symbols was discussed by Culture and Art, Public Space, and Information/Publication commissions. It reads, in its Article 3:.

THIRD ARTICLE.- To adopt as a local flag a rectangle integrated by three vertical stripes, with the following dimensions, the first and third shall be a thirty percent, the second one of the remaining forty, the first being green, the second white and the third yellow.

Regarding the colors, the same document provides an explanation for the same and approves them as the local colors:

FIRST ARTICLE.- To adopt as the distinctive colors of the Locality of Usaquén the green, white and yellow as symbols of ecology, transparency in the public administration, and "Land of the Sun", as the word Usaquén has historically been interpreted, respectively.

Article 2 of Local Agreement No. 002 dated 27 June 1996 approves the logo of the locality, including one for development projects. The logo has the same template as other local administrative boards of the city: It is composed of a curved gold ribbon reading JUNTA ADMINISTRADORA LOCAL [Local Administrative Board] on it in black. Not connected, there is a gold ribbon just under reading ALCALDIA USAQUEN; as the centerpiece, in the center of all of this is the JAL (Junta Administrativa Local) logo in green which forms an A shape for Alcaldía; at the same time, it reads the JAL initials.
