Rio Grande do Sul inaugurated on 21 December 2019 a new beach safety flag. The flag is horizontally divided red-yellow, with the badge of the Rio Grande do Sul Military Firefighters Corps in upper hoist, and the black writing "BANHO SEGURO" ("Safe bath", on the red stripe) / "ENTRE BANDEIRAS" ("Between the flags", on the yellow stripe).
Two flags are displayed symmetrically from the lifeguard booth to limitate the watched areas, whose length depends on bathing conditions:
- 2 x 150 m, when the main flag is green;
- 2 x 100 m, when the main flag is yellow;
- 2 x 50 m, when the main flag is red.
