There are actually two versions of this flag. Both versions of the flag feature the logo of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial on a white field. Both flags also feature a thin double border of crimson and gold between the NLEOM logo and the outer white edge of the field. The difference is that one version has just the blue shield and rose logo and the other has the full NLEOM logo including the name of the memorial encircling the shield and rose. I have seen photographs from Police Week events in Washington, DC, showing both versions of the flag in use.

I'm aware of three other law enforcement memorial flags. The first is a simple black-blue-black triband. We currently have this
flag listed as UFE 02-3, where the conversation revolved around the use of the black-blue-black triband as a sticker or magnet on cars and as an armband worn by law enforcement officers to memorialize a fallen comrade. I have also seen photographs of a flag using the same triband design, including photographs of law enforcement honor guards carrying it in parades. As Jim Popovitch stated on 17 August 2002, the design is intended to represent "the thin blue line" of law enforcement officers protecting us all against the black backdrop of crime. I have seen the width of the blue stripe vary from an even one-third the height of the flag to a literal "thin blue line" of no more than one-tenth the height of the flag.

Additionally, I have found two police memorial flags with identical designs save for the colors used. Both flags take the form of a vertical tricolor, with the first third of the flag (closest to the hoist) either blue or purple, the middle third white, and the fly third black. Both designs feature the black outline of a generic police shield or badge with an eagle on top. The word "POLICE" appears on a banner within the shield/badge. Above the device, in black script lettering are the words "In Memoriam." I have seen both designs advertized for sale online, and have seen photographs of both designs in use, including the purple-white-black design flown at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Officers Memorial
