After being told by a town resident in the summer of 2024 that Montague did not have a flag in the Massachusetts State House’s Hall of Flags, Town Administrator Walter Ramsey contacted state Representative Natalie Blais for help in displaying a flag. Executive Assistant Wendy Bogusz and Administrative Assistant Angie Amidon then searched online for a flagmaker that could produce a flag to meet the standards of the State House. A Selectboard meeting in October unanimously authorized Ramsey to order two flags from Framingham Flag & Pennant Co. of Shrewsbury, which has produced State House flags for many towns.
The flag was presented at the Selectboard meeting of January 6, 2025. It shows the town seal in black and blue on a white field and, because of the design’s complexity, is dry printed rather than stitched for both durability and lower costs. The flag will soon be displayed at the Great Hall of the State House.
Representative Blais is “thrilled” that Montague will soon have a State House flag. “To have a flag there is really special,” she says.
