Description of the Flag

The flag currently in use has a white vertical panel at the hoist bearing the seal and three horizontal stripes in light blue, white, green in the fly two-thirds.
August Halter, 16 January 2021

According to an article by the Boca Raton News, the flag of Boca Raton was designed by George Ryan, who was the art director for an ad agency in Minneapolis. He got a call one day in early 1965, being told by a friend that the Chamber of Commerce was sponsoring a flag contest. The winner received a free trip to the Bahamas, the deadline being the day after the call. It is almost entirely certain this flag was adopted the same year.

The flag uses green for South Florida's lush vegetation. Blue is for the sunny skies, white simply because "it's pretty". The seal features a Spanish galleon, a reminder of Boca Raton's past, a row of stylized rocks at the harbor.

Boca Raton's flag is the logo on white. Based on the photo at www.ci.boca-raton.fl.us/city/council_image.cfm. I used the logo on the homepage.

The original version of the flag uses a modified version of the seal, encircled by the words "CITY OF BOCA RATON FLORIDA" and it appears the background is just white.
