The flag used by the President of the Seychelles is the national flag with the coat of arms set in upper fly (in the red wedge).
The previous flag used by the President of the Seychelles between 1977 and 1996
is illustrated and described here.
Željko Heimer, 13 January 2003
The National Symbols Act of 1996 illustrates this flag, where the coat of arm
is placed in upper part of red stripe. But on the flag shown in the pictures,
the coat of arms is located somewhere else, it can be seen almost in the middle
of the flag. If you look at how much of the yellow band is visible above the
coat of arms, you can clearly see the difference.
There are two
possibilities: the flag has changed, but the law has not yet been amended. The
other option, I think, could be that the flags were deliberately produced in
this way for better visibility. (There is already an example of this, the white
band of the French flag is deliberately made wider for media events.)
