Shield Argent a branch (rather a stick) of chestnut tree Vert, its burrs slit Gules, set per fess, in chief a Marian crown Azure bejewelled Or and issuant from a base wavy Azure charged with a barrulet wavy Argent a bridge Gules masoned Sable. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll (Bénard Guedes style) reading in black upper case letters "TINHELA".

Tinhela Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Valpaços Municipality; it had 196 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 15.3 km².

Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters ""ALVARELHOS - VALPAÇOS".
