Coat of Arms

Shield Vert with base wavy of Argent and Azure, issuant from base wavy a bend sinister Argent charged with a bendlet sinister Azure, on dexter chief point an almond tree Or eradicated of the same with crown filled with blossoms of Argent and Gules, on sinister fess point a mill wheel Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "FREGUESIA DE VILA NOVA DE FOZ CÔA".
Meaning:
The town had no proper symbols until 2016 but shared those of the namesake municipality before. The name of the entity means "New Town at the mouth (Portuguese: foz) of the Côa (River)". Base wavy and bend sinister wavy are a representation of the confluence the rivers Douro, represented by the base, and Côa, represented by the bend sinister, in the town. The mill wheel is a representation of the former Mós Commune, the tree of the former Santo Amaro Commune.

Presentation of Vila Nova de Foz Côa

Vila Nova de Foz Côa is one of the two communes of namesake municipality enhanced by incorporating neighbouring communes during the 2013 changes. It had 3101 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 90,17 km².

Shield Gules with base wavy of Argent and Azure two millstones Argent in fess, flanked enhanced by two orange branches Argent and abased by a rail profile Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "MÓS – VILA NOVA DE FOZ CÔA".
Meaning:
The village was formerly known either as São Pedro de Mós or as Mós do Douro, which means "millstones of the Douro River", alluding to former watermills. The millstones (Portuguese: mós) and the base wavy as representation of the river are thus canting elements. The rail profile is alluding to the local railway station, shared with Freixo de Numão and the local railway bridge, a viaduct.

Shield Vert with base wavy of Argent and Azure, on central chief point an abbot´s crozier Or in pale, flanked abased by an eradicated almond tree Or with blossoms of Argent and Gules at dexter, and by an eradicated wine plant Or with grape bunches Argent at sinister. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "SANTO AMARO - VILA NOVA de FOZ CÔA".
Meaning:
The base wavy is a representation of the Douro River, flowing alongside the northern edge of the commune. The crozier is an attribute of St. Amarus, name giver of the commune and its local patron saint. The plants are symbolising agriculture, especially the production of almonds and wine.
