It is a quite typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a quartered background (town rank) of yellow and black.

The arms are or issuant from a wavy campaign barruly wavy of four a typical Aveiro lagoon seeweed ship sable and argent dressed gules between to sheaves of wheat vert in chief. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VAGOS".

Vagos municipality had 23 205 inhabitants in 2000, and it is divided in 8 communes, covering 164,9 km². It belongs to: Aveiro District District, traditional province and 1999 ref. adm. region Beira Litoral, and C.C.R./NUT2 Centro.
