Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE PENEDONO E GRANJA".
Meaning:
Tower and chestnut branches are representing former Penedono commune, pit lamp and pickaxes as miner's tools former Granja commune.

Meaning:
The word "granja" has several meanings, all related to farming: It can be a small farm, a farm shed, or an aviary; the coat of arms doesn't seem to reflect this meaning.
