Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "FREGUESIA DE MACHICO".
Meaning:
The arms are based on the personal arms of Tristão Vaz Teixeira, nobleman in the house of Dom Henrique, founder of the local captaincy and its first captain. His arms displayed a golden phoenix, issuant from a golden flame. The wheat ear is referring to agriculture and the production of cereals in the valley of Machico. The adze is symbolising local ship construction and repair. The base wavy is symbolising the Atlantic.
