Shield Vert two geese statant respectant Argent animated Gules, on chief an escutcheon Argent, charged with the cross of the Order of Christ, on base an apple Or leafed Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "S. MARTINHO DAS CHÃS".
Meaning:
The name of this commune means litterally "St. Martin of the flat[ land]s" (the latter likely refering to small flat areas within the rugged terrain of this part of the country). The geese are attributes of St. Martin, name giver and local patron saint.
