Coat of Arms

Shield equipollé of Or and Vert charges filling the Or spots thusly a grape bunch Purple leafed Vert in fess point, a cross of the Knights of Christ in chief dexter, an orbicular cross Gules in chief sinister and an apple Gules leafed Vert in each base dexter and sinister. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and long white scroll, as used for united communes, reading in black upper case serifed letters "FREGUESIA DE ARMAMAR".
Meaning:
This is one of those cases where the CHAAP creates or approves a blazon which formally respects the legal prescription against pseudo-marshalled arms, see here, but in practice does that very thing,on the flimsy technicality that an equipollé shield isn´t really partitioned.
The equipolated background comes from the arms of former Coura commune (which is chequy, for a much more fortunate overall arrangement), the crosses and the grapes come from the previous, never officialised arms of Armamar Commune, while the apples were taken from the proposed but never granted arms of Tões Commune.

Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "FREGUESIA DE ARMAMAR".

Presentation of Armamar

Usually a smaller commune was adjoined to a neighbouring larger one and the latter retained its name and, when it exists, its flag and coat of arms. What is further unusual here in Armamar Commune however, is that the new, enlarged-but-not-renamed commune was granted new flag and coat of arms ((see p.552-(18) of Law n. 11-A of 28 January 2013). Armamar is one of the four communes of Municipality, enlarged and incorporating neighbouring communes during the 2013 changes. The former namesake commune had 1268 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 9,29 km². The new commune had a population of 1510 inhabitants as of 2021 and covers 16,76 km².

Meaning:
The labarum, a cross staff with white gonfanon parted by a red Latin cross, is an attribute of St. John the Baptist, the local patron saint.

Coura was one of the nine communes of Armamar Municipality affected by the 2013 changes. It had 48 inhabitants in 2021 and covered 5,45 km².

Tões was one of the nine communes of Armamar Municipality affected by the 2013 changes. It had 133 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 2,02 km².
