The Flag

A sunny flag at pueblos-de-puertorico.com site (defunct), which is identical to the one at the Lexjuris site. Camuy is in Aguadilla district, northwest Puerto Rico.
Jarig Bakker , 27 January 2000

The Tai'no sun color shades follow the written description at those sites. The flag is green like the Coat of Arms. A white undulating band runs horizontally across and is interrupted in its middle by the figure of the Camuy sun, in this case represented by the colors yellow and black.

Coat of Arms

by Nelson Román, 16 June 2004

From <www.ngw.nl>: "The green of the background means the green of the pastures and vegetation in the municipality. The centre symbol is designed in the art manner of the original inhabitants, the Taino. The symbol representing the god of the sun, was called "Camuy" in the native tongue. The interrupted wavy white band represents the local river Rio Camuy, which goes subterranean during part of its trajectory, creating one of the most spectacular underground river cave systems in the world, the Rio Camuy Cave System."
Nelson Román, 8 July 2004
