Coat of Arms

image from Facebook

The coat of arms of Vetagrande was adopted in May of 1985 under Municipal President Pablo Sánchez Domínguez. It was designed by Francisco Javier Hernández Franco. It was adopted through a call for submissions from the Telesecundaria school "Emeterio Fragoso", where people in the third year participated. Above the shield, a ribbon reads the motto "EL TRABAJO ES PROGRESO" [Work is Progress]. Below, a ribbon reads "VETAGRANDE, ZAC." At the top of the border, multiple rows and columns of arrows are crossed. To the sides, there are also bundles of arrows, headbands, and a bow at the bottom; these remember the Indians that settled the area. Cobs of corn, meanwhile, also signify agriculture. In the inner section, the Municipal Palace is seen at the front. At the bottom, a miner's helmet and crossed pick and shovel, remembering the Mining Industry. At the top, a path and buildings leading to the Calvary Temple, signifying faith. To its sides, a mining winch (right) remembering the discovery of ore and sheep (left).
