The Flag

The city flag was adopted on Oct 25th 2001 by Municipal Notice No 543. The white flag is charged with green city emblem in the center. The flag proportions are 2:3. The stylized S is the image of both people and the city advance lively to the future. The arc surrounding the letter S represents the city holding citizens warmly and developing together and the circle equals unity which spreads and harmonizes. The green stands for the harmony with rich nature represented by Minuma rice fields.

Iwatsuki City / 岩槻市

The flag of the former city of Iwatsuki was white with mark. The city is now, from 2005, part of the city of Saitama.

Five cherry blossom petals were arranged to form the kanji character for “大” (great), with the Yata Mirror and the kanji character for “宮” (palace) placed inside.
