Sāzmān-e Ettelā'āt va Amniyat-e Keshvar, shortened to SAVAK, initially called
Security Organization, was the secret police of the Imperial State of Iran. It
was established on March 20, 1957. It had the purpose and authority to:
A.
Study and compile the information necessary to maintain the security of the
country.
B- Pursuit of actions that involve part of espionage and operations
of elements that act against the independence and integrity of the country or
for the benefit of foreigners.
C- Prevent the activities of communities whose
formation and management are declared illegal, as well as prevent the formation
of communities whose principles or practices are contrary to the constitution.
D- Prevent conspiracies and tricks against the security of the country.
E-
Inspection and discovery and investigations into crimes provided for in the Law
of Punishment of Predecessors Against the Security and Independence of the State
It operated until the Islamic Revolution in 1979, when it was dissolved by
Iranian prime minister Shapour Bakhtiar on February 12.
