Regional Council HaGalil HaTahton (meaning Lower Galilee)
is situated in the east side of the Lower Galilee, northeast of Afula and southwest of Tveria (Tiberias). City hall is in
Kaduri Centre near Ilaniya and Kefar
Tabor. Est. 1951, pop. 8,500.
The unofficial flag was reported as white with the municipal
emblem. However when I visited the R.C. I found the flag was
yellow with black emblem. The municipal emblem was published in
the official gazette (Rashumot), YP 1286, 30 June 1966.

It seems that the Regional Council HaGalil HaTakhton uses now
only green on yellow as its flag.

This Regional Council govern 17 settlements (Bet Keshet, Bet
Rimon, Lavi, Ilaniya (Est 1899), Sharona, Arbel, HaZoreim, Kefar
Hitim, Masad, Mitzpe Netofa, Giv'at Avni, Hoda'yot, Kefar Zeytim,
Kefar Kish, Mitzpe, Sde Ilan and Shadmot Devorah)
Ilaniya (Ilan means tree) , the first settlement in the
area (est in 1899 as an education farm, In 1902 ten of the
graduates established the colony nearby) took its name from the
former Arabic name Sejera (feminine of tree), hence the
oak tree on the emblem. This kind of oak is called Alon
HaTabor (Oak of the Tabor) representing also Mount Tabor
which is in its jurisdiction.
