Overview

Ráckeve is a town in southern part of Csepel Island in Ráckeve county of Pest County.
After the árpád dynasty was established, the region of today's Ráckeve belonged to the Hungarian king. A monastery was built in the 12th century, mentioned in an official document in 1212 for the first time.
In the 15th century, many Serb refugees came from the South, fleeing the invasions of the Ottoman Turks. At this time, the settlement was called Kiskeue, that is to say "Kiskeve" in modern Hungarian. Kiskeve means "Little Keve"
In the 18th century, the arrival of German settlers increased the number of inhabitants in the town. Thus, the settlement became a tri-ethnic location with Hungarians, Serbs, and Germans.
Ráckeve already had town status in the past, but it lost it sometime in the 19th century and only regained it in 1989.

The Coat of Arms

The circular inscription of the coat of arms enclosed in a line frame: “VITA MIHI CHRISTUS RERUM CONCORDIA FISCUS” (Christ is My Life, the Concord of Things, the Treasurer). In the field bordered by the circular inscription enclosed in a line frame, there is a Renaissance shield split in the middle, in the right field of which a straight double-edged sword with its tip turned downwards floats, its crossbow bends upwards to the right and downwards to the left; its left field is nine-cut, i.e. red-silver stripes. The letters R and K (Ráckeve) are in the lobes of the shield.
The silver typewriter was made in 1520 - presumably by Péter Ethwes (ötvös), who was one of the city's jurors in 1536. The city used this seal press, or the descendants of this coat of arms seal, in its official practice even in the first half of the 20th century.
The meaning of the coat of arms dates back to the beginning of the 13th century. Ráckeve was revived in 1440 by the inhabitants of the sub-Danubian town of Keve, fleeing from the Turkish expansion, when they settled on the site of Szentábrahámtelke with the permission of Władysław I. A whole series of rulers confirmed the previous privileges of the sub-Danubian town of Keve in relation to Ráckeve.
The coloring of the coat of arms: in a red shield, the silver (white) band of the árpád house, a silver (white) sword with a black hilt.
The coat of arms was adopted by the same Municipal Decree.
