Pilis is a town in Monor district of Pest County, in Central Hungary.
The town was inhabited in prehistoric times, but was abandoned at the end of the Roman rule.
Pilis was then first mentioned in 1326. It was destroyed during the Ottoman rule in the 16th century,
and was reestablished only in 1711, by János Beleznay, the local landlord. He brought Slovak settlers from Upper Hungary,
and built a palace in 1717 for himself and his family. The Beleznay family sold the town and its surroundings in the 19th century to the Nyári family,
who renamed the palace to "Beleznay-Nyári palace".
Pilis became a town in 2005.

The flag of the town is white with its coat of arms placed in the center of the flag.
The shield is flanked by green vine branches and leaves. The name of the town is written over the shield. The flag is bordered by red and green flames all around.
There are nine-nine flames on longer, and seven-seven flames on shorter border. The ratio is 4:5.
Note: The ratio is defined by decree, but I haven’t seen any flag with this ratio. The pictures I found on Internet, depicts flags with ratio 2:3 or 1:2 (vertical).
The flag was originally adopted by Municipal Decree No. 23/2003. (XI. 27.) on 27 November 2003.
The current legislation is 15/2012. (VI.04.) adopted on 04 June 2012.

The coat of arms is a red and green shield, the wo is divided by a horizontal silver wavy stripe.
The upper part is charged with a silver castle, while lower green part depicts a golden bunch of grapes.
The castle is one of the oldest, historically significant buildings in the town of Pilis, the Beleznay-Nyáry Castle, which also symbolizes its past.
The bunch of grapes refers to the traditions of viticulture, which has played a significant role in the agricultural character of the town for several centuries.
The silver band separating the two fields represents the Gerje stream, which originates in the town of Pilis.
The coat of arms was adopted by the same Municipal Decree in 2003.
