The municipality of Ližnjan (Italian, Lisignano; 2,945 inhabitants in 2001, 989 in the village of Ližnjan) is located in the eastern part of the southernmost tip of the Istrian peninsula, 50 km south of Pazin. The municipality has the Pula Airport on its territory.

The symbols of Ližnjan were adopted on 20 December 2004 by the Municipality Assembly, after the symbols had been approved by the Ministry (Glas Istre, 22 December 2004).
The symbols were designed by the MOD d.o.o. company, from Pula. According to the public records of the Ministry of Justice, there is a company named MOD d.o.o. in Pula, led by the photographer Danilo Dragosavac.
The flag (photo) is in proportions 1:2, yellow, with the coat of arms offset towards the hoist.

The sources showing the original artwork drawings display the flag with the coat of arms offset to the canton. I suspect that a change was made to comply with the State legislation that requires the coat of arms of municipal flags to be either in the centre or offset to the hoist.
