The flag of Goëlo-Penthièvre, designed by Divy Kervella and approved by the Breton
Vexillological Society, is blue with an horizontal chevron ermine and a yellow griffin placed along the hoist.
The griffin represents the town of Saint-Brieuc, the capital of Goëllo-Penthièvre as well as the union of Montfort and Penthièvre, former
ducal families of Brittany. The blue
triangle at hoist represents the shape of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc.The
ermine spots recall Brittany.

Goëlo is a former district of Brittany, located on the western side of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc and the western part of the traditional province of Goëlo-Penthièvre.
The flag of Goëlo, designed by Divy Kervalla, is diagonally divided by the ascending diagonal, white with black ermine spots - black with white ermine spots, the ermine spots on the diagonal being
countercoloured, and a vertical red stripe placed along the hoist.
The flag is based on the arms of the County of Goëllo, "Argent a chief
gules", rotated orthogonally and charged with Breton ermines.
The diagonal represents the former linguistic border between the north-
western, Breton-speaking part and the south-east, Gallo-speaking part
of the region. The diagonal also recalls the coat of arms of the
island of Bréhat, the jewel of Goëlo.
Introduced in Guide des drapeau bretons et celtes by D. Kervalla and M. Bodlore-Penlaez, the flag was presented to the public on 19 September 2009 in Paimpol, the biggest town in Goëlo. In February 2010, a copy of the flag was offerred to the town of Châtelaudren, the historical capital of Goëlo.

The Penthièvre, located east and south of Saint-Brieuc, composed, with the Goëlo, one of the two archdeacons of the diocese of Saint-Brieuc. A white flag with red border and the arms of Penthièvre (Ermine a border Gules) can be seen on a postcard from at least 1967 (photo) on Du Guesclin square, in Saint-Brieuc.
