Bureau Veritas, currently an international certification agency seated in Neuilly-sur-Seine, near Paris, France, provides consulting in compliance with quality, health and safety, environmental protection standards and regulations, particularly in the shipping and construction industries.

One of the international norms that this company issues certification for is ISO 9001 (quality management systems) and certificatied entities use i.a. a flag to make public that they are ISO 9001 compliant.
This flag is with apparent proportions 2:3, horizontally divided white-red-white (approx. 3:7:3); on the fly side, over all, the company logo in black and white, and the white lettering "ISO 9001 BUREAU VERITAS Certification" in three lines, set in a sans-serif face, on the red area by the hoist.
It is safe to speculate that conformity with other such standards (namely ISO 14001) as certified by this company is signaled by similar flags with other color replacing red.

Logo of Bureau Veritas

The logo of Bureau Veritas is presented on the company's website as follows:

Bureau Veritas was established in 1828 "to seek out the truth and tell it without fear or favor". The allegorical figure of Truth, represented by a woman emerging from a well, was chosen as the logo. The Bureau Veritas emblem shows a young woman seated on the edge of a well with her arms raised. In her right hand is a torch, in her left a mirror. Her left foot rests on a globe.
On the ground are a pair of scales, Mercury's wand (a caduceus), and a rooster with its eyes raised towards the woman. The horizon shows a three-masted vessel, sails billowing, passing across a bay. The new logo, redrawn in 1990 in a pure heraldic style, adheres to the same symbolism.
