Introduction of Fanø Municipality

Fanø is a small island south of Esbjerg and north of Romø, another island. It has only some 2800 inhabitants and consists of the parishes of Nordby (seat of the municipality) and Sønderho. The municipality was established in 1970 and remained unchanged during the reforms of 2007.

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Azure a sinister facing seahorse Argent, at sinister Argent a seahorse Azure.
Meaning: The seahorses are representing the surrounding North Sea and their number is representing the two parishes of Nordby and Sønderho.
