Introduction of Jammerbugt Municipality

Jammerbugt Kommune was established in 2007 by a merger of the municipalities of Aabybro (seat of the municipality), Brovst, Fjeriitslev and Pandrup. It is located between the Limfjord and the name giving bay. The seat Aabybro was first mentioned in 1664 as a traverse over the Ryå, the biggest water course of the Vendsyssel Area. In 1682 it was called a village (Danish: landsby) and had 17 farms and 23 houses. It had been a railway town between 1897 and 1967. Furthermore it had been seat of a namesake municipality between 1970 and 2006.
