Gauting Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a watermill's wheel Argent with 12 paddles, topped by an imperial crown Or.
Meaning:
The tinctures are those of Bayern. The millwheel is representing the valley of the Würm River and the many settlements, which have "Mühle" (= mill) as part of their names. It is also reminding on the Gauting Mill and together with the crown it is symbolising the local rice mill. For some 500 years there is a legend, telling that Emperor Karl the Great was born in the mill. The names of the old settlements Königswiesen (= king's meadows) and Karlsberg (= Karl's mountain) fortify the assumption that a Carolingian royal estate had been near Gauting.
