Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
Shield Or, a chevron Azure; above two heraldic roses Gules, seeded Or and barbed Vert; five diamonds Gules in cross.
Meaning:
The chevron is taken from the personal arms of Otto of Dötlingen (1366), who was a citizen of Wildeshausen. Furthermore it is the only heraldic evidence of the name of the municipality. The roses are taken from the arms of the Counts of Oldenburg-Wildeshausen, who owned estates around Dötlingen. The diamonds (blasoned as tiles) are taken from the arms of the Lords of Wale, who lived in Dötlingen for a long time.
The arms were approved on 21 January 1952 by Minister of Interior of Lower Saxony.
