Shield Azure; a castle Or with embattled wall and two towers, each with three windows Sable ordered 1:2, port Azure, port wings Gules and half open portcullis Sable; between the towers St. Mary sitting Or with the Holy Infant in her right arm. The coat of arms bears obvious similarities to the arms of Magdeburg, where St. Mary stands between the towers, holding a wreath.
The current arms were also used in times of the German Democratic Republic.
