Shield parted per fess, above Or a gable Gules with half timber Sable, beneath Gules a 6-spokes wheel Or.
Meaning:
The house is a typical Lower Saxonian farmhouse, in this case the "Haus auf dem Walle" (= house on the wall) , a local estate built in 1510 by the Minnigerode kin. The wheel is referring to the Archbishopric of Mainz, as the village became a loan of the Archbishops of Mainz in the late 14th century. They finally bought the village in the 15th century. It became a market town in 1519 and seat of a district (Amt). It remained a dominion of Mainz until 1803. The flag colours are those of Lower Saxony.
The arms were approved on 9 December 950
