Description of flag:
The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a blue over white over blue horizontal triband with ratio 1:2:1, the coat of arms is in its centre.

Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess by a wavy line. In the chief is a red, issuant, double queued lion, blue crowned, tongued and armed. The base shows in a blue field a silver (=white) fish armed red.
(editorial note: in Germany a fish of that kind would be denoted as "beflosst" (literally: having fins or finned))
Meaning:
The lion belongs to the coat of arms of the counts of Berg. The fish symbolizes the location near Wupper creek. It was also part of the ensign of the lords of Vorst in Leichlingen in 14th century and also that one of Volkwin von Hückeswagen, who gained the city by marriage in 1416.
