Shield Gules, a unicorn forcene Argent.
Meaning:
The valley of Oberried had been populated in the early Medieval. The Barons of Tengen had estates in the area and ruled the valley as vasslas of Sankt Gallen Abbey. In 1237 they gave the valley to the nuns of Günterstal in order to establish a monastery. The municipality adopted the current arms in 1899, based on the family arms of the barons, which became extinct in 1592.
