Erlangen Banner with Bannerhead

It is a white-red vertical bicolour. The coat of arms is in the centre of a white bannerhead.

Erlangen Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per fess and the upper half also per pale. Above right is a red, sinister facing eagle with golden clover stems, crowned and armed golden and tongued red. On his breast is an inescutcheon, quarterly divided into silver and black. Above left is a black eagle with golden clover stems,, crowned and armed golden and tongued red. On his breast are goldn initials "ES". Upon his neck is a golden coronet. Below in a blue field on top of a silver, embattled tower is a golden, crowned, double queued demi-lion issuant, tongued red.
Meaning:
The field below is representing the Old Town with a Bohemian lion (since 1397). The eagles of Brandenburg (red) and Prussia (black) are representing the New Town (since 1707). The initials are alluding to Elisabeth Sophie, wife of Margrave Christian Ernst.
