At Binnenvaartsite at
http://www.debinnenvaart.nl/schependb/rederijvlaggentabel.php is a Rhenus
houseflag: blue with a white diamond with a black sans serif "R". However,
according to the same site, at
http://www.debinnenvaart.nl/schependb/inhoud.php?action=tel&id=2676 is the
ship Rhenus 125, owned by Rhenus Schiffahrt AG in Basel, Switzerland, now the
Liberty Anne, owned by United Cruise in Arnhem (probably a daytripper on the
Rhine, or as Kees Kleinendorst used to say: a mozart)

Jarig is quite right in pointing to the R-in-diamond flag as a precursor of
the current Rhenus house flag. My new source “Flaggen
auf dem Rhein” (1952 ed.) confirms this on p. 61 by showing one and the same
flag for:
- “Rhenus” Aktiengesellschaft für Schiffahrt und Spedition, Basel
(i.e. Co. „Rhenus“ for Shipping and Forwarding, Ltd, Basle)
- Rhenus,
Gesellschaft für Schiffahrt, Spedition und Lagerei m.b.H., Mannheim (i.e. Rhenus,
Co. for Shipping, Forwarding and Warehousing Ltd, Mannheim).
The ‘Marcollect’
site shows a collection of Stinnes-related house flags (table flag format) in
which our two Rhenuses (meaning the old flag and the new one) are represented:

Third photo
from top, Klaus-Peter Bühne differencing between the “Swiss Rhenus” (with ‘R’ in
blue however) and the “German Rhenus” (with slanted ‘L’).
