Description of the flag

A photo of the flag was sent by the township's manager. Included was a document, in which the flag was created in 1976, in anticipation of the American Bicentennial. The flag was designed by John Marusich.

The flag depicts the Liberty Bell, with the township's name inscribed on the bell's headstock. Inscribed onto the bell is the founding year (1863), the county's name, and the American bicentennial star. On either side the the bell is the simplified version of the township seal on the left, and the state seal on the right.

Along with the flag's photo, they sent me information about the seal's origins. It was designed in 1974 by Laura Magone, who was in the City of Monongahela at the time.
