The seal depicts a town skyline with mountains in the background. The main
building in the foreground is the Dahlonega Gold museum. In the lower half of
the seal is a river with the outlines of someone canoeing and someone extracting
minerals from the river. Between them is the phrase "FIRST MAJOR U.S. GOLD
RUSH." This refers to the Georgia Gold Rush, which began in Lumpkin County. On
the first embankment is a shovel and pickaxe with the town's name in Cherokee
along with the establishment year.

The seal features the town's name in Cherokee, "ᏓᎶᏂᎨ", spelled in letters of
the Cherokee syllabary; in the Latin spelled Cherokee orthography thats’s
"Dalonige".
