Bukovina is a historical land in northen Moldavia, illegaly ceded by the Turks to the Habsburgs in 1774. Until 1849 it was a district in the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, and then a sepparate duchy, Herzogtum Bukowina. In 1867 it remained on the Cisleithanian side of the empire, until 1918, when it joined Romania. In 1940 the Soviet Army occupied the northen part of Bukovina, which today is in the Chernivtsi county in Ukraine. The southern part is now in Suceava county, Romania.

In 1849 it seems that Galicia gave its horizontal blue-red Landesfarben to Bukovina, while it got a new one: a horizontal red-blue flag.

The shield has the same colors as the Landesfarben (or vice-versa, i'd say): it is divided Azure-Gules, with a Sable auroch head in the middle. The auroch has an Or six-pointed star between its horns and it's flanked by two similar stars underneath his ears.
Sometimes, the shield is crowned Or:

Or even has a mantle Gules lined with Ermine, topped with a royal crown:
