Description of the flag

The Iglesia Ni Cristo is a Christian sect originating in the Philippines around the beginning of the 20th century. There was very little information regarding the meaning of the flag, but apparently the Menorah was selected because of a biblical reference to 7 Churches in the book of Revelations. Iglesia Ni Cristo considers itself the 7th church, thus the 7-tiered menorah. There was no explanation of the Italian Tri-colour other than it was a co-incidence.
The link where I eventually discovered the information is at http://www.network54.com/Forum/281698 - shows a picture of the flag (shown above) and

1:2 variant

It seems that there is no standard proportion for the flag but the common proportion of the flag is either 2:3 or 1:2.. The flag above, may be an erroneous version or a variant. Most images of the flag shows the green side of the tricolor to the left or nearest to the hoist.

The flag greatly resembles that of Italy. In fact, the flag without the golden menorah may be a variant. Green, white and red is the de facto if not official colors of the sect.
