Introduction

The communes of Salvador and Santa Maria merged in 2013 forming a united commune with official name: Serpa (Salvador e Santa Maria). The town hall had already been right on the border between the two former communes.

Salvador Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Serpa Municipality (q.v.); it had 4365 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 288.82 km².
