It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain blue field.

Shield Argent with a base wavy of Azure and Argent, an eagle Gules with an inkpot Sable in his beak, in chief a cogwheel Azure between two tobacco leaves Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "BEATO - LISBOA".
Meaning:
The eagle securing an inkpot is representing the Order of the Lóios, the convent of ""the good fellows of Vilar de Frades" or "Blue Capitulars", called Lóios. The leaves refer to an old tobacco fabric in the village, the cogwheel is symbolizing industries. Finally the base wavy is symbolizing the River Tejo.
