It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of purple and yellow.

Coat of Arms

Shield Purpure, in chief chiseler´s tools Argent hilted Or in saltire, superimposed by a paly plummet Argent garnished and hung at filament Sable, in base three sheep statant Or ordered 2:1. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "ALCAINS" (see left imageabove) or "VILA DE ALCAINS" (see right imageabove).

Presentation of Alcains

Alcains is one of the 13 communes of Castelo Branco Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 5022 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 37,0 km².
