Coat of Arms

Shield Vert on a mound Argent issuant from base a dexter pointing elliptic megalith Azure in fess, in chief a hoe iron Or flanked by two chestnut branches Argent fruited Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "PLANALTO DE MONFORTE (UNIÃO DE FREGUESIAS DE OUCIDRES E BOBADELA)".
Meaning:
As often happens, these symbols are partly taken from each of the two ancestor communes´ coats of arms — to be sent in the next days. The stone is a representation of a local megalith.
The phrase "planalto de Monforte" means "Monforte plateau", and this is one of the few communes in Portugal whose formal name (either before or after 2012) is not just "Commune of [Settlement-Toponym(s)]". The word "monforte" itself is a contraction of "monte" and "forte", equivalent to English "stronghill" — making these arms partly canting (although maybe by happenstance; cp. the blazon of the former commune Bobadela). This Monforte is an area within Chaves Municipality, and it should not be confused with Monforte Municipality [pt-mft.html], located more than 300 km to the south.

Presentation of

Planalto de Monforte was one of the nine communes of Chaves Municipality created anew by the 2013 changes, formally as Planalto de Monforte (United Commune of Oucidres and Bobadela). It had 260 inhabitants in 2021 and covered 18,98 km².

Shield Vert on a mound Argent issuant from base a representation of a local dexter pointing megalith Azure in fess, in chief two keys in saltire with the one in bend being Or over the one in bend sinister being Argent and both with their wards pointing upwards and outwards. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "BOBADELA - CHAVES".
Meaning:
The crossed keys are an attribute of St. Peter, the local patron saint. The stone is a representation of a local megalith.
