    Shield Argent, a local ox passant Proper armed Sable, issuant from base wavy Agent charged with a barrulet wavy Azure a valley Vert, in chief a rod Gules emphasized Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "RIO DE ONOR".
    Meaning:
    The rod, an artifact is shown in the arms, in a particularly and comparatively uninspired manner. Known as Rod of Rio de Onor, it is subject of continued anthropological and ethnographic research.

    Presentation of Rio de Onor

    Rio de Onor Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Bragança Municipality; it had 76 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 44.2 km². Rio de Onor, also spelled Rio d’Onor, is an international village, its urban sprawl of a few dozen houses separated by the eponymous river and the international boundary line of Portugal and Spain; the Spanish "half" of the village, dubbed Rihonor de Castilla, belongs to the Municipality of Puebla de Sanabria. Traditional way of life commune, incl. language (Asturian-Leonese) used to be homogenous and integrated up till the middle of the 20th century. Some such practices remain in current use, kept alive for nostalgy and tourism reasons.
