This city of 20,265 inhabitants was founded on June 12, 1826.
The flag is an abstract form of the Coat of Arms.

Comeri'o - Quartered in cross, of green and white, and
superimposed the right superior quarter is an anchored yellow
cross. Being the flag an abstraction of the Coat of Arms, it
gathers all its symbolism.

Shield divided in four quarters. In the superior right side,
has a cross and represent to "Santo Cristo de la Salud"
saint patron of Comerío. The second quarter has 3 palms and
represents the firts name of the Town: Sabana del Palmar (Palm
Savannah). The Third quarter has 2 wave and represent the Salto
de Comerío (Comerío Leap) and Río la Plata (The Silver River).
The last quarter has a crown and represent the Casique Comerío
(Chief Comerio) son of the Casique Caguax (Chief Caguax) 2
important Taino indians of Puerto Rico. The wave line above the
crown represent the mist at morning. The little gold shield has a
tobacco plant and represent the most important industry of
Comerio. Comerío was known as "El Pueblo del Tabaco"
(Tobacco Town). In the banner has a nick name "La Perla del
Plata" (Plata's Pearl) because Comerío has an important
position at Río la Plata. The Mural Crown has 3 towers and
represent that is a Town.
