Wijewo - rural commune, Leszno County, Wielkopolskie Voivodship - old name:
gmina Brenno.
Gmina Wijewo is a rural gmina (commune) in Leszno County, Greater Poland
Voivodship, in west-central Poland. Its seat is the village of Wijewo,
which lies approximately 27 kilometres (17 mi) west of Leszno and 73 km
(45 mi) south-west of the regional capital Poznań.
Area: 61.37 sq.km (23.7sq.mi); Population: 3,463 (2006).
A typical agricultural commune with some tourism potential.
It is really a pity Wijewo changed its flag.
The one by Gunnar Staack (2000) on FOTW page was quite whimsical and
played delightfully on its name: Wijewo means, roughly, "weaving" or "meandering".
Arms and the new flag adopted on January 24, 2003 (resolution # V/28/03)
"Arms: the Spanish-style shield is divided into squares forming a "chessboard".
In the middle is a lamb. Colors of the Arms are: yellow, blue, red and
white.
Flag: of colors yellow and blue."
