Arms and flag adopted on April 28, 2005 (resolution # XXXIII/197/05).
"Arms: on the blue, late-gothic shield there is a silver castle with
the main gate-tower flanked by two smaller towers. Windows - black.
In front of the open gate there is a sheaf of four wheat stalks - in
gold.
The structure represents the historic castles and mansions on the territory
of the commune.
Four windows stand for four "solectwo" - sub-units or villages of the
commune and its color - black - symbolizes the coal mining industry there.
Wheat stalks remind the agricultural character of the commune and the
colors blue and gold correspond to the traditional colors of Silesia.
Flag: a rectangle in the ratio 5:8 composed of three uneven horizontal
bands in the proportions 1:3:1 and in colors: white-blue-yellow.
On the wide, blue band there is a Coat of Arms placed in the proportional distance
from the hoist = 1/8 of the length of the flag. The Arms height is proportionally
2/5 of the height of the flag.
The flag is double-sided and its left side is a mirror image of the
right one."
The seat of the commune - village of Gierałtowice has a different Coat of Arms
