In an article in the Lebanese As-Safir newspaper, there is a photo of a green flag with a circle of calligraphy inside an UN-style wreath. The same emblem is carved in bas-relief on the wall to the right. According to the article, the cleric would appear to be the Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, the spiritual leader of Lebanon's Sunni Muslims. Would that be his flag?

On the homepage of the Mufti you can see his emblem in gold, with the words "وما توفيقي الا بالله" ("Wama tawfiqi illa billah"), which meens something like "and my success comes only from God, only from God."

"Religious leadership of the Sunni community in Lebanon is based on principles and institutions deriving partly from traditional Islam and partly from French influence. Under the Mandate, the French established a Supreme Islamic Council at the national level, headed by a Grand Mufti and a national Directorate of Waqfs; these institutions continued to exist in the mid-1980s. The French also established local departments of waqfs, which staffed and maintained hospitals, schools, cemeteries, and mosques. In addition, the waqfs managed the funds that supported these operations. The funds were obtained partly from direct donations and partly from income derived from real property given to the community as an endowment."

Today in a three-day visit by Pope Benedict XVI to Lebanon, in a meeting with the Grand Mufti of Lebanon Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani a flag can be seen, probably a Shia Musilim flag. However I cannot seem to identify this flag, but several images can be found here:
