Tsukuba University has purple flag. It uses a version of the Paulownia seal; it was adopted by the students and school in 1974 to continue the tradition started by Tokyo High Normal School in 1903. (Source)

In 2009, the university began to explore a way to brand itself to prospective students inside Japan and internationally. The result ended with a new campaign called "Imagine the Future". In January 2011, a flag was created and used around the university to reinforce the new brand. It is the text in white on a light blue background. (Source)
